Abstract
In this studies young ;Rastali; plants appear to tolerate short-term soil drying 7 days better than ;Berangan;. However ;Berangan; apparently recovers earlier than ;Rastali; when rewatered after 14 days of drying soil condition. These findings may indicate that stomatal behavior and recovery from short dry period might be strongly cultivar-specific for bananas. Additionally short-term drought appears not to disrupt stomatal function of banana plants.
