Abstract
The effect of anticoccidial from oil containing medium chain fatty acids and their corresponding monoglycerides which known as enhanced virgin coconut oil EVCOwas investigated. A total of 100 broiler chicks were assigned to 4 treatment groups: 3 groups A B C were infected with 8 species of live coccidia at the concentration of 5X higher than recommended doses. Group A was then treated with 30 EVCO in the animal feed and drinking water; Group B with antibiotic Coccisul-Q and no treatment for Group C. One control group D was set as undisturbed group. The sampling of faecal and cecal was carried out at DPI 7/ DPT 0; DPI 11/ DPT 4; DPI 15/ DPT 8; DPI 18/DPT 11 and DPI 22/ DPT 15. A significant deduction of oocysts level in faecal and cecal dramatically after 4 days post-treatment in group treated with EVCO. However it is not as effective as antibiotic treated group. Nevertheless EVCO is a plant-based it is good and safe to be used as alternative way to control occidiosis in poultry industries.
