Abstract

Streptomyces sp. S2 were previously observed to be a potential antifungal producer for anthracnose in red chillies. In this paper we discuss on the isolation of the antifungal compounds from the organism. Column chromatography was used for the initial separation of the compounds followed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography HPLC. It was observed that active compounds were eluted out when 50:50 of ethyl acetate:hexane was used. This fraction was then injected into the HPLC to further separate and purify the compounds. From the analysis conducted we observed that the active compounds were eluted out at the retention time of 10.8 min.
