Abstract
Thermophilic cellulase-producing bacteria were isolated from Selayang Hot Spring Selangor Malaysia using cellulose as substrate. A total of 17 bacterial strains were isolated from 28 soil samples. All bacteria isolates were able to grow at 55C with pH 7. Two isolates designated as S6 and S7 were identified as cellulases producer. The isolate S6 showing the maximum zone of hydrolysis was selected for cellulase production. Maximal cellulases production by S6 was detected at the beginning of the stationary phase 150 minutes.
