Abstract

Halophilic bacteria were isolated from seawater of Tanjung Pelepas Johor Malaysia. All of the thirty seven lipase producing bacteria gave positive result on tributyrin triolein and Rhodamine agar plates with lipase activites ranging from 0.321 U/mL to 0.004 U/mL. Among them 27 of the isolates were identified as Vibrio spp. 9 were Photobacterium spp. and one was Staphylococcus sp. on the basis of 16S rRNA gene analyses.
