Abstract

Fungi were successfully isolated from Malaysian marine invertebrates. A total of 57 fungal extracts were screened against P388 cells. The quick screening assay showed that 25 of 57 of the extracts 43.9 inhibited 50 of the P388 cells. Of the 25 active extracts 10 40 showed IC‚‚12 500 ng/mL. The strongest cytotoxic activity was shown by extract F6451 with IC‚‚3 886 ng/mL. Four known metabolites namely; meleagrine cytochalasins 3-indolyl carboxylic acid and dehydrosterigmatocystin were dereplicated by the HPLC screening. The screening provided a basis for selection of extracts for further investigation.
