Abstract

This paper highlights very briefly the work on dipterocarp research that has already been done to date around the world. The purpose of the paper is to draw the attention of researchers to the areas where there are still gaps in the knowledge and also to new emerging areas where research could be pursued. It is the sincere hope of the authors to awaken the dipterocarp scientists to begin networking among themselves so that duplication of work can be avoided. All areas of research requiring attention will be tackled in a collaborative way so that the required answers to the problems encountered in managing utilizing and conserving our remaining dipterocarp forest to perpetuity on a sustainable basis will be realized before it becomes too late.
