Abstract
A study was carried out in a jackfruit field at MARDI station Bukit Tangga Kedah on land with slopes of 4-5 degrees. The project;s objective was to identify and test kenaf plants as erosion control measure. Kenaf in 1 and 3 rows were planted close together across the slope. The amounts of sediment accumulated at the end of the plot were measured. The sediment or eroded soil were to determine nutrient content. In order to quantify the effect of erosion in soil properties and crop performance girth and height of crop jackfruits and bulk density were also measured. Results showed that the rate of erosion from both treatments was reduced. These diverted and reduced the velocity of water flowing down the slope.
