Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to investigation effects of three tillage systems on some soil physical characteristics at the sandy clay loam soil texture the USDA scheme and in the research farm of University Putra Malaysia UPM in Malaysia; a region with an average annual rainfall and temperature of 3500 mm and 28C respectively. The experimental design was a 2 x 2 x 3 factorial randomized complete block design RCBD with three replications. In this study main plots were allocated to tillage treatments namely Moldboard Plow MP followed by once disk harrow Disk Plow DP followed by once disk harrow and rotary cultivator RC as control; sub plots were allocated to depth of soil sampling D between 0-10 and 20-30 cm; and sub sub-plots were allocated to situation S viz at two stages before plowing as control and after plowing. Determinations included Stability Index SI Aggregates size distribution wet basis 2mm Bulk Density dry basis BDD Mean Weight Diameter wet basis MWDw. Results showed that SI MWDw BOD and aggregate size distribution wet basis 2 mm were affected by applying the mentioned tillage machines.
