Abstract
In order to achieve high rice yield production advance cropping techniques and nutrient management are being practiced by local farmers in major granaries in Malaysia. Higher rice yields were achieved through intensive land preparation methods high input of pesticides and chemical fertilizers as well as increase in application timings. These intensive activities in long term could be a major cause of changes in the status of soil health in rice field. Thus a study was embarked in assessing the soil health status under intensively cultivated rice production area in MADA for two years. Four major parameters were identified and used in this assessment study and the results clearly indicated some level of degradation in soil health status in the experimental location.
