Abstract

In this preliminary experiment survival of Bacillus spp. UPMB10 in Tryptic Soy Broth TSB control media was compared to those grown on TSB amended with a chemical fertilizer. The Bacillus spp. a potential bio-fertilizer was cultured in both media for six weeks and its survival and endospore formation were observed by total plate count and microscopically. The results showed that the shelf life of viable Bacillus spp. UPMB10 was longer in the amended liquid media. More spores were also observed in this amended media. This study indicates the possibility of applying liquid biofertilizer compared to the bulky traditional solid carrier.
