Abstract

Alginate granular formulation of Hendersonia GanoEF1 containing kaolin clay with dhal as nutritional amendments was tested in vitro for viability and efficacy during storage against G boninense the causal agent of basal stem rot BSR in oil palm. After one months of storage viability cell of Hendersonia GanoEF1 remained at 109 CFU g; and the efficacy of the viable cell gave a percentage inhibition of radial growth PIRG value of more than 60 against G. boninense. However up to six and nine months of storage viability over time reduced to 10 CFU g;and 10CFU; respectively while the efficacy of Hendersonia Gano EF 1 granules was declined to 50 and 45 respectively. Generally development of alginate granular formulationis a simple and effective method for enhancing the activity of Hendersonia GanoEF1 against G. boninense and further studies will be conducted to verify their effectiveness in the field.
