Abstract

The main challenges facing by the Malaysian agriculture sector are the availability of suitable land and the rising cost of production. As the main commodity crop in this country the oil palm plantation and their related industries will have to become the country;s examples of successful implementer of sustainable agriculture. Crop and livestock integration with oil palm had been introduced with the main objectives of providing additional income to oil palm growers and to maximise the use of land and resources under oil palm. To achieve this and to implemented it systematically the principles and criteria of Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil RSPO have been referred to and used to explain how integration covering four principles with six criteria in oil palm have contributed to achieving palm oil production in a sustainable manner under the broad categories of sustainability of profit planet and people
