Abstract

Flexure shear shrinkage and creep properties of rice husk concrete were reported. Two structural beams with deformed steel reinforcement were cast with or without shear reinforcement. Bending and shear failures were simulated in the test upto failure and the failure pattern and load noted for comparison with conventional r.c. beams. A long term shrinkage study was performed and the difference with respect to gravel aggregate concrete was recorded. Short term creep characteristics were evaluated and it was found that the total creep strain was more pronounced than in conventional concrete and that the creep rate was not a constant quantity
