Abstract
The Asian Vegetable Research and Development Centre AVRDC through the integrated problem-oriented research efforts has determined that genetic potential for high yield in soybeans in many tropical areas is possible. AVRDC has one of the largest soybean germplasm collections in the world. Germplasm with resistance to tropical diseases and insect pests has been selected. The germplasm has been used in the hybridization program with genetically high yielding genotypes. A total of 32 243 seed packages of germplasm segregating materials and selected pedigree lines has been distributed to cooperators in 68 countries
