This paper firstly gives a brief account of the pepper market situation in respect to world production exportable supply as well as the past and present trend in pepper prices. This is coupled with an analysis of the global import demand for the commodity. Other salient aspects of the world pepper trade are also touched upon. On the basis of the past trend in supply and on available information of planned production amongst the producing countries a projection of the world supply position of pepper in the short and medium term is attempted. This is then viewed against the projected global demand for pepper. The paper concludes with a note on forecast prices and the anticipated changes in the world pepper economy.
