Abstract

Mature budding techniques of cocoa were of prime importance in rehabilitation of disease and unproductive trees using clonal materials. Currently most smallholders' areas were planted with untested materials and the yield per tree was very variable. Hence there was a need to look into various mature budding techniques which facilitated transfer of clonal materials to smallholders. Emphasis was upon the ease and success of grafting. This paper reported on various budding techniques including chip budding. Percentage success timing of budding tape removal and other pertinent observations on the techniques were presented
