Abstract
Sarawak has not yet embarked on the establishment of forest plantation on a large scale. The present reafforestation activities consist of research and development works on choice of species seed supply and nursery practice site evaluation and site preparation. Thus the present role of reafforestation activities is to acquire knowledge and develop a nucleus of skill in preparation for large-scale reafforestation programme. The roles of forest plantation development will be to restore deforested areas to their former productive and protective functions to ensure sustainable supply of timber for domestic and industrial used and to ensure sustainable employment opportunity
