Kijkar Somyos, . (1987) Runoff and soil losses from various conservation measures. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
The destruction of forested areas in northern Thailand is mainly due to shifting cultivation. A number of conservation measures under shifting cultivation areas are suggested in the paper. The most effective measure is the complete bench terracing method but it is also most expensive. Cheaper measures which could be implemented include intermittent terraces hillside ditches and contour bands.
