Abstract
A study on consumer preferences and buying habits of fresh cut flowers was conducted in Peninsular Malaysia. Five types of flower were preferred namely roses carnations chrysanthemums orchids and pompons. The users preferred red yellow pink white and purple flowers. Cut flowers were bought mostly in the form of stalks and bouquets. The demand for fresh cut flowers increased on special occasions. The Chi-square test showed that relationships between the amount of purchases with the variables - race age sex income and marital status was highly significant at 1 percent level.
