Abstract

Induced breeding using pituitary gland extract and human gonadotropin HCG was conducted on Catla Catla catla. Injections of a combination of pituitary gland extract and HCG on female Catla breeders resulted in a high percetage of spawning success. Aspects of reproductive biology such as age and weight at first sexual maturity. Spawning season gonadosomatic index and fecundity are briefly discussed.
