Abstract

The article gives the current status of sago in terms of its area of cultivation by state and annual production. For long sago has been a neglected potential resource which deserves greater attention in development programme. It covers 0.1 percent of the total land use for agricultural crops and produces an average of 11 000 tonnes of sago products annually. The major sago production areas are located in southwest of the Peninsula
