Slanting death of tobacco which comprises of two distinct diseases was found to be more prevalent and its severity was still increasing in the Peninsular Malaysia. Root rot caused by Fusarium solani was more widely distributed than vascular wilt caused by F. oxysporum. Root rot was found attacking tobacco plants in all tobacco growing states but vascular wilt was still restricted in Kelantan and Terengganu. Disease severity of slanting death was most serious in Melaka followed by Kelantan and Terengganu. Soil pH and texture have been found to play important roles in the incidence and development of slanting death. The incidence of the disease was observed to be higher on the sandy soil with pH values in the range of 4.00 to 5.49
