Abstract
This paper provides a broad overview of telecommunications and data services TDS and their impact on agricultural development. There are indications that services enhanced and control provided by TDS over the production distribution and marketing of goods and services will have far-reaching effects on the agricultural sector as much as it has influenced the other sectors of the world economy. However available data clearly show that the agricultural sector in Malaysia is not well placed to exploit TDS and the emerging global production and trading patterns. Thus several strategies that can be employed towards initiating sustainable rapid growth and effective application of TDS for agricultural development are proposed.
