Loevinsohn M. E., . (1990) The hazard auditor and improved pesticide regulation in the Third World. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
This paper described an innovative approach to improving control of pesticide hazards where national regulatory capacity is weak. It outlines the role that an external hazard auditor might play in certifying industry's adherence to accepted standards of health and environmental protection much as does a financial auditor with respect to accounting principles. All parties to the long running confrontation over pesticide use in developing countries would stand to benefit from an independent assessment of this kind. Options for the establishment and operation of a hazard audit organization are outlined
