Abstract

Soil studies were set up with triazole based compounds in various South East Asian Countries. These studies were designed to study the rate of dissipation of paclobutrazol Cultar and hexaconazole Anvil under a variety of tropical environmental conditions. Residue analytical methods have been developed to measure the traces of these chemicals in soils 0.01 mg kg1 sec. in 3 years. Results obtained from these trials indicated that both paclobutrazol and hexaconzole degraded readily in soil under tropical conditions with time. The half-life of 'Cultar' is approximately one month and less than 10percent of the applied chemical remained in the soil after 3 months. The half-life of hexaconazole is up to 2 months and 15percent remained in the soil after 6 months. No apparent leaching of these chemicals was observed under these conditions
