Abstract

The yield of Dy x P released by RISPA was monitored at Pernantian Division in Padang Halaban Estate and at Perlabian Estate in North Sumatra. The remarkably slow height growth of the Dy x P hybrid was demonstrated clearly at both locations. For the first 12 years the height increment of Dy x P and D x P at Pernantian Estate was 54 cm/year and 64 cm/year respectively. At Parlabian Estate it was 47 cm/year and 52 cm/year respectively. The average yield for 15 years at Pernantian was 24.6 tons FFB/ha/year that is 10 percent - 14 percent lower compared to the yield compared to the yield obtained at Aek Pancur Experimental Garden whereas the average yield at Perlabian Estate in the first five years of harvesting was 19.4 tons FFB/ha/year that is 41 percent higher than that of the local D x P
