Abstract
Several commercial organisations have indicated their interests in forest plantation establishment. In fact in Sabah forest plantations have already been established for several years by such organisations. Further investments in forest plantation by the commercial sector are being encouraged. This paper attempts to collate the viewpoints from several commercial organisations on this issue of forest plantation establishment particularly with respect to justifications of establishing the forest plantations species selection types of land requested and other land issues of concern to them financial aids and government incentives. The latter three issues appear to be the most important factors that can encourage commitments towards forest plantation establishment. A range of viewpoints and preconditions for investments are expressed by these organisations. This diversity in viewpoints helps provide a forum to discuss ways and means to further encourage the commercial sector's involvement in forest plantations
