Abstract

This study was done to evaluate the importance and contribution of Kuala Sepetang mangrove waters to fisheries. It was carried out between November 1986 and April 1987. The result of the study showed that the water support a considerable amount of penaeid prawn. This penaeid prawn comprising of the species Penaeus merguiensis Penaeus monodon Metapenaeus lysianasa Metapenaeus ensis Metapenaeus brevicornis dan Metapenaeus affinis has brought an average income of 120/bot/trip. Also during this study the population density of prawn resources in the mangrove area was also able to be estimated
