Abstract

Nutrients cycling in tropical rainforest ecosystems is a continuous process. The input is from atmosphere and weathering through flow of water and movement of nutrients within the system. The movement of nutrients from vegetation into the soil which does not involve decomposer is through leaching of the throughfall and stemflow. The study was conduted in Puchong forest reserve. Throughfall was collected in a 'gallon plastic container' supplied with a funnel and placed underneath the water collector. For stemflow measurement an aluminium collar was attached around the stem in such a way that it made an angle 40 degree to the horizont. The lowest part of the collar was attached to a hose and water was collected in a container. Throughfall and stemflow were collected and brought back to the laboratory for nutrients analysis. The nutrient contents of the throughfall and stemflow of the study will be duscussed
