Abstract
Antiviral activity of some of Malaysian medicinal plants were screened against herpes simplex type-1 DNA virus and vesicular sotomis virus RNA virus using simplified plaque reduction method. In this assay system a constant number of viral particles and the plant extracts at different dilutions were co-cultured with monolayers of vero cells. Plant extracts were considered to have antiviral activities when the monolayers were cytoprotected from plaque formation or being eliminated by virus
