Abstract

Chromium mordanted fibre was used as markets to estimate the rate of food passage in the lesser Malaysia mousedeer Tragulus javanicus. The marker first appeared after 8 h in the faeces of animals fed with lundai Sapium baccatum and after h in the faeces of animals fed with a commercial pellet. The mean retention time MRT of food particles estimated using chromium mordanted fibre in animals fed with lundai 48.3 1.6 h was two times longer than for animals fed with pellets 24.9 0.6 h
