Abstract

Twelve resveratrol oligomers were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of cengal Neobalanocarpus heimii Dipterocarpaceae by semi-preparative HPLC. In addition to the previously reported tetrameric species hopeaphenol 1 we isolated three tetramers vaticaphenol A 2 hemsleyanols C 3 and D 4 three trimers -copalliferol A vaticanol G 5 vaticanol A 6 and vaticanol E 7 and two dimers balanocarpol 8 and its diastereoisomer ampelopsin A 9. We also isolated three new compounds a dimer --heimiol A 10 its diastereoisomer heimiol B 11 and a trimer heimiol C 12. These structures were established by means of extensive two-dimensional NMR experiments i.e. COSY HMQC HMBC and NOESY.
