Abstract
Bamboo shoots production is the main purpose for smallholders to plant bamboo. However integrated with other cash crops in the initial stage of bamboo plantings provide a supplementary income to farmers before shoots can be harvested. A case study of branch cuttings of Gigantochloa ligulata intercropped with lemon grass is discussed. This integrated planting is based on its tolerance to poor soil conditions good survival rate and short maturity cycle.
