Abstract

A long-term study on the effect of phosphate P sources on rice yield was conducted. Three phosphate sources i.e. North Carolina Phosphate Rock NCPR Jordanian PR and triple superphosphate TSP were applied at levels 0 20 50 and 90 kg P2O5/ha. The sources were applied cumulatively for the first six seasons. From the 7th season onwards each plot was divided into two smaller plots where on one plot P was applied to examine the residual effect and on the other plot was applied to examine the residual effect. The advantage of P application was seen from the 4th season onwards. Generally yields from the residual plots i was about 0.1 and 0.3 t/ha higher than the zero P plots ii declined with seasons and iii had no significant differences over sources. Yields from cumulative plots were 0.7 to 0.9 t/ha higher than the control. Responses due to NCPR and TSP were similar and superior to JPR.
