Abstract

Red worms were used in the study to decompost rice husk into a useful product and to solve the problem of rice husk disposal. Preliminary investigations showed that red worm could grow and multiply in ground rice husk. The rate of multiplication was promising. The effect of mixing rice husk with other organic wastes such as cow dung saw dust and rice bran and the addition of food supplements such as soy protein minerals Ca and Mg eurycoma longifolia tongkat ali powder and multi vitamins on the population growth of red worms were also studied. It seemed that soy protein minerals saw dust and rice bran were not suitable for red worms. However the addition of multi vitamins ans 'tongkat ali' is expected to produce healthy strong and ready to work red worms.
