Abd. Latif Mohmod, . and Aminuddin Mohamad, . (1991) The availability of rattan species and their industrial status. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
The distribution of three most important rattan species in Peninsular Malaysia viz. Calamus manan C. caesius and C. ornatus is described. The distribution seems to be influenced by certain environmental factors such as well-drained soil topographic positions and rainfall. The concentration of species is located in the north-western states of Peninsular Malaysia. The industrial status based on current survey conducted by the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia FRIM and problems encountered concerning the development of the rattan industry are also highlighted and discussed.
