Abstract

Steam explosion of the oil palm trunk showed that enzymatic susceptibility of the exploded material could be achieved up to 98 for the bottom portion of the stem and 86 for the middle part. The steam-exploded material contained 23-31 water solubles which after acid hydrolysis yield xylose of up to 83.
