Abstract
Our vision for the Malaysian cocoa industry by the end of this century is based on several premises: 1 Malaysia will have been a fully-developed country for at least 80 years so land and labor will be much more expensive than in other cocoa-producing countries. 2 Malaysia will be a major processor of beans and manufacturer of chocolate. 3 Growers will be well-educated so they can adopt advanced technologies. 4 Natural chocolate will have stiff competition from artificial chocolates. 5 Consumers will demand quality and uniqueness and can pay for it.
