Abstract
A preliminary survey of fish fauna in Melalap stream was carried out during the scientific expedition held jointly by Universiti Malaysia Sabah Sabah Parks and Japanese International Cooperation Agency JICA. Fish collections were made using electrofishing device along the Mesisilad stream. The stream was generally shallow fast flowing with clear water and rocky substrate. A total of four species from the family of Gastromyzontidae one species from the family of Sisoridae and four species from Cyprinidae were collected. 77 from the individuals caught represented Gastromyzontidae 22 Cyprinidae and 1 Sisoridae.
