Abstract

Beetle diversity at Ulu Sumbiling Sg. Melalap was surveyed. A total of 1 687 specimens representing 64 morphospecies from 27 families were sampled. Scarabaeidae Tenebrionidae and Chrysomelidae were the three most speciose families while Dryopidae Hybororidae and Tenebrionidae were the most abundant families recorded. The abundant families were dominated by mostly one species namely Sostea sp. Dryopidae Phaeochrous lobatus Hybosoridae and Leiochrinus sp. Tenebrionidae. The diversity however was relatively low as indicated by the Shannon Wiener index with the value of 1.32. Beetle diversity was also compared with other sites in Borneo.
