Abstract
Daily transrectal ultrasonographic examinations of ovarian follicular dynamics from the period of sponge withdrawal to ovulation were studied in 51 Boer x Feral goats. The goats were divided into 2groups; the first group n26 were synchronised using flugestone acetate sponges 40mg; Ovakron inserted intravaginally for 14 days followed by intramuscular injection of 125 IU PGF2alpha Estrumate and 300 IU Equine Chorionic Gonadotropin eCG at time of sponge removal.The second group n25 were similarly synchronised but without eCG. The results showed that the total number of follicles and maximum diameter attained were significantly higher P 0.05 in the eCG group compared with the non eCG group.
