Abstract
Predictions of the stress-strain behaviour and volumetric changes of a granite residual soil are discussed in this paper. Elasto-plastic models have been used and these include the Cam-Clay modified Cam-Clay cap and bounding surface models. For stress-strain predictions the bounding surface models provided the best predictions while both the Cam-Clays provided superior predictions for volumetric changes. However none of the models were able to predict dilative responses of the compacted residual soil specimens.
