Abstract

A total of 165 Boer goats were studied to determine the effect of estrus synchronisation method on the time ofonset and duration of estrus. The goats were divided into 16 groups with meanSEM weight age and body condition score of 24.20.31 kg 1 year and 3-4 respectively. Different combinations of PGF2 alpha Estrumate flugestone acetate vaginal sponges Ovakron Follicle Stimulating Hormone FSH and Equine Chorionic Gonadotropin eCG were used. The onset and duration of estrus were statistically significant PO.05 between eCG and non eCG subgroups of PGF2 alpha and FGA synchronised animals. There was however no statistical differences for onset and duration of estrus between FSH and non FSH groups in the other synchronisation methods studied.
