Abstract
A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of feeding individually housed Kacang crossbred male goats n24 either an isocaloric and iso nitrogenous control CON;100 commercial concentrate HAF 25 OPF with 75 commercial concentrate or an OPF 50 oil palm frond with 50 commercial concentrate diet for 100 days on the of rumen pH and protozoal population. Rumen liquor samples were taken immediately after slaughtering the animals. The pH of the rumen fluid was always in the order of OPF 5.90 HAF 5.74 CON 5.62. There was a non-significant P0.05 increase in the rumen protozoal population of entodiniomorphs and holotrichs in both the OPF and HAF animals.
