Abstract

Cocopeat by-product from coir factory improved growth of cekur and pegaga very significantly. Application of cocopeat as a mulching 4cm thick increased total fresh weight of cekur by about 233 per cent after eight months. This method improved the yield of pegaga improve yield by about 105 per cent after eight week. These results suggested that cocopeat was able to conserve soil moisture in herb growing particularly for small plants that matured in less than one year. The potential of using cocopeat for commercial production of cekur and pegaga is discussed.
