Abstract
Continuous deodorization such as pack-column sieve-tray-column and mammoth-pump-tray column has been designed and manufactured locally with a mixture of local and imported parts. However semi-continuous deodorizer with its intermittenly discharge trays is the most complicated and difficult to make. Lipico Technologies Sdn. Bhd. is perhaps the first local company to make it in Malaysia. There is a demand for quick stock change with least contamination between oil changes to refine various palm oil products such as super olein palm mid fraction cocoa butter substitute CBE and red palm olein etc. Here we try to share our experiences in designing manufacturing installation and successful commisioning of a few semi-continuous deodorizer with capacity of 150 t day-1 to 300 t day-1.
