Abstract
During a series of dairy adviser and farmer training workshops held in Indonesia on forage production and silage making several improved pre- and post-harvest practices were demonstrated. The findings on forage growth and quality responses to fertilisers filed wilting of fresh forages and pre-treatments of silages highlight some of the practical techniques that can improve the supply quality and voluntary intake of tropical forages on small holder dairy farms. Ensiling in the wet season for feeding out in the following dry season will improve annual forage utilisation.
