Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the stability of a 1:1 cut slope in Bangi by using commercial software Slope/W. This program uses several methods of stability analysis i.e. ordinary Method Bishops Method Janbu Method and Morgenstern-Price Method. Soil strength parameters used in the analysis were obtained from the soil tests conducted before the construction of the slope. to achieve factors of safety above 1.2 the results showed that the angle of the slope should be 40 degree or less. Other factors that could possibly cause the failures of 1:1 cut slopes especially in Bangi are also discussed in this paper.
