Abstract

Eight lactating crossbred dairy cows were used in a 4x3 incomplete Latin square design to determine effect of substitution of alfalfa hay/or soybean meal-protein by kenaf on mammary amino acids uptake and transfer efficiency of essential amino acids. Mammary uptake of amino acids tended to decrease and lysine methionine leucine and phenylalanine were the first-four most limiting amino acid when alfalfa hay and/or soybean meal-protein were substituted by kenaf.
